Student-Athletes Spread Holiday Joy

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee sponsored a toy drive to benefit the Southwest Community Center.

Syracuse student-athletes' brightened the holidays for children at the Southwest Community Center last week. Members of all of the Orange's 20 varsity squads collected more than 200 toys, which they delivered on Friday, December 5.

Student-athletes helped each boy and girl pick a gift during the event, which was sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

"This is our second annual toy drive," said SAAC president Komal Safdar. "One of our main pillars is service to the outside community so we do things like shoe drives, we go to schools and just talk about education, and toy drives like this. We as student-athletes are in a privileged position and we want to give back to the community."
