Orange ACC Home-Away Matchups Announced

Syracuse women’s basketball will play home-and-home series with BC and Pitt in 2014-15.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its women's basketball home and away game assignments for the 2014-15 season on Tuesday. The Orange, in its second season in the league, will play both home and away games against Boston College and Pittsburgh, while meeting every other ACC school once.
Syracuse will play a 16-game conference schedule with one home and one away game against both BC and Pitt, while facing six opponents at home only and six opponents on the road only. The Orange will play home games only against Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, NC State, Virginia and Wake Forest. SU will play away games only against Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville and Virginia Tech.

Last season, head coach Quentin Hillsman's Syracuse squad went 10-6 in its inaugural ACC season, good for fifth-place, on its way to a 23-10 overall record and second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Maryland and Pitt were the Orange's home-and-away partners for 2013-14. The Terrapins join the Big Ten in 2014-15, while the ACC adds Louisville.
The Orange went a combined 3-0 last season against its home-and-away partners for 2014-15. SU won at Pitt, 58-47, on Jan. 19, and then defeated the Panthers, 67-36, on Senior Day at the Carrier Dome on Feb 23. The Orange won at BC in their lone meeting of the season on Feb. 16, 71-47.
Syracuse's ACC home slate promises to provide excellent basketball at the Carrier Dome in 2014-15. Highlighting the home conference schedule will be dates with Notre Dame, which is coming off a fourth-straight Final Four appearance; North Carolina, which went to the Elite Eight and the Orange upset in Chapel Hill when the Tar Heels were ranked No. 6; and NC State, which finished fourth in the ACC and beat SU in a tight game in the ACC quarterfinals.
The Orange's road slate will feature first-ever trips for SU to Clemson, Duke, Florida State and Georgia Tech, while also marking return to trips to old BIG EAST foes Boston College, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech.
The ACC was represented by nine postseason squads in 2014, including eight teams in the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship, which was tied for the most of any conference. The league had three teams advance to the Regional Finals and two in the Final Four. The ACC finished the 2013-14 season with a 184-91 (.669) record against non-conference competition.
Syracuse's non-conference schedule will be announced at a later date.
