
Kobelt, Safdar Earn All-ACC Academic Honors

Duo combined for 26 total wins in 2014
GREENSBORO, N.C. – A pair of SU student-athletes have been named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Women's Tennis Team. Senior Maddie Kobelt and junior Komal Safdar were picked to the 25-player team announced by Commissioner John Swofford on Wednesday, June 25.

Kobelt earned all-conference honors for the second straight year by being named to the All-ACC Second Team in 2014. She finished this past season with 14 overall victories, which included six singles wins and eight wins with doubles partner Valeria Salazar. In addition, Kobelt became the 30th member of the SU 100-win club with a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) triumph versus Pitt's Audrey Ann Blakely on April 4.
Safdar finished the season with 12 wins, including seven at sixth singles and five in doubles.
Clemson and Miami led the way with three All-ACC Academic selections. Syracuse was one of seven schools with two honorees. Clemson senior Yana Koroleva was named the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade-point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA during his/her academic career.
