
Orange Head South to Face #65 Wake Forest, #9 NC State

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -Â Syracuse heads to North Carolina for a pair of ACC matches this weekend, taking on No. 65 Wake Forest and No. 9 NC State. Friday's match against Wake Forest will take place at 4 p.m. at the Wake Forest Tennis Center, while Sunday's match begins at 11 a.m. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.Â

- The Orange dropped a pair of tightly contested matches over the weekend against a pair of strong opponents. 'Cuse opened the weekend with a narrow 4-2 defeat to No. 40 Stanford before falling 4-1 against No. 19 California.Â
- Syracuse notched its first conference win against Boston College, sweeping the Eagles 5-0.
- Monika Wojcik leads the team with 13 overall wins this spring. She has posted an 8-4 record in singles action and has added five doubles victories.Â
- Nelly Knezkova ranks second on the team in singles victories with five. She holds the team lead in doubles wins with six.Â
- Wojcik owns a 4-1 record when playing in the No. 4 singles spot.Â
- The No. 1 doubles duo of Knezkova and Anastasia Sysoeva are 4-2 so far this spring.Â
- Serafima Shastova recorded wins against Cornell, Fordham and Buffalo at No. 1 singles. She logged her fourth singles victory of the spring against Boston College while playing at the No. 2 position.Â
- Emma Scaldalai defeated California's No. 91-ranked Naomi Xu 6-1, 6-3 last weekend. This marked the first win over an ITA ranked opponent this season.Â
- Scaldalai has now won three of her last four singles contests, all taking place in conference play.
- The Orange have taken the doubles point in six of their 13 matches this spring.Â
- No. 65 Wake Forest enters the weekend with a 9-9 overall record after notching a win over No. 58 Princeton.Â
- The Demon Deacons are 1-5 in conference play so far, with their lone victory coming against Florida State.Â
- Wake Forest posted a 15-14 record in duals last spring, reaching the second round of the ACC Tournament before falling in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Â
- Evie Oxford was named the ACC Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week on Feb. 17. Oxford was the No. 8 nationally ranked recruit last year and owns an 11-1 singles record in duals action.Â

- No. 9 NC State heads into Sunday with a 13-5 overall record after taking down No. 2 ranked Pepperdine in its previous match. NC State has defeated seven ranked opponents this spring.
- The Wolfpack are 5-1 in conference play, with their lone defeat coming against No. 32 Â Miami.Â

- Freshman Victoria Osuigwe and Junior Gabriella Broadfoot make up the No. 2 ranked doubles team in the nation. Osuigwe and Broadfoot have been named the ACC Women's Doubles Team of the Week four times this spring. The duo won the NCAA Doubles National Championship in 2025.Â
- Sophomore Mia Slama was named the ACC Player of the Week on March 24. Slama, who was ranked No. 44 in the latest ITA singles poll, owns a 6-3 record at No. 1 singles this spring. Â
- NC State has posted a 6-1 record at home this spring.
- The Wolfpack owns a 7-4 advantage in the overall series. The previous meeting between the two squads in 2024 saw Syracuse produce a 4-3 upset over the No. 8 ranked Wolfpack.Â
