SYRACUSE, NY – Syracuse and Long Beach State will square off on Sunday, December 28, in the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse and Long Beach State have met three times previously and the Orange claimed each outing in the Carrier Dome. The series opened in 1990-91 when the Orange won, 94-79. SU was victorious in the 2008-09 campaign, defeating the 49ers, 79-55. The two squads met up again in 2012-13 and Syracuse won, 84-53.
Long Beach State was 15-17 overall and 11-7 in the BIG WEST Conference. The 49ers return their starting backcourt of seniors Mike Caffey and Tyler Lamb. Caffey averaged 16.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game while Lamb contributed averages of 15.4 points and 3.6 rebounds.
SU earned its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth and finished with a 28-5 overall record, last season. The Orange won 25 straight games to start the season and was ranked first in both national polls for three weeks.
Coach Jim Boeheim, owner of the second most coaching victories in Division I history (948), will guide his alma mater for the 39th season.
Deposits for 2014-15 Men's Basketball season tickets are on sale now for only $125 each, and provide priority seating before the general public on-sale which starts on September 3. Individual game tickets will go on sale in mid-October.
