Nanco Named to Canadian U-20 Roster

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Orange men's soccer forward Chris Nanco has been named to the 20-man Canadian roster for the U-20 CONCACAF Championship, which begins Jan. 9 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Nanco was the only collegiate field player named to the Team Canada roster by head coach Rob Gale on Monday, Jan. 5.

Nanco is no stranger to the world stage. He previously led Canada's U-17 squad to the silver medal at the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship and an appearance in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Last year, Nanco represented Canada at the prestigious Dale Farm Milk Cup in Northern Ireland.

Syracuse's second-leading scorer in 2014, Nanco started 19-of-21 matches and finished with 12 points on five goals and two assists.

Canada opens the tournament on Jan. 10 against Haiti. The Canadians are in Group B and they will play five times overall during the group stage. The winner of the group qualifies for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup later this year in New Zealand.
