Orange Returns Home to Face Albany Tuesday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The rv/-- Syracuse men's soccer team puts its four-match winning streak on the line when it hosts Albany on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Start time at the SU Soccer Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
The match will be televised by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel. In addition, live stats will be available on Cuse.com.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE (7-2-1)
Syracuse posted its fourth consecutive victory last Saturday when it defeated Duke, 3-1, in Durham. Sophomore Julian Buescher (Duelmen, Germany) recorded the first multiple-goal game of his career as he netted two goals in the victory. He is now Syracuse's leading scorer with 13 points (8g, 5a).
The Orange features one of the highest-scoring offenses in the nation through the first five weeks of the season. In the NCAA statistics released on Monday, Syracuse ranks ninth in scoring offense (2.30 ppg.), fifth in total points (68), seventh in total goals (23) and eighth in total assists (6).
SCOUTING THE GREAT DANES (5-4-1)
Albany is coming off a 2-1 loss in double overtime at Stony Brook on Saturday in its America East opener. The Great Danes have split their last four matches and enter Tuesday's game with a 5-4-1 overall record. Afonso Pinheiro, the 2014 America East Rookie of the Year, is tied for sixth in the nation in goals with eight and tied for 15th in points with 16. Leo Melgar has added four goals, while Pedro Espindola leads the team with four assists. Eric Orologio and Danny Vitiello have split time in goal for the Great Danes. Orologio has a 0.96 goals-against average and a .737 save percentage, while Vitiello has a 1.11 goals-against average and a .812 save percentage. The pair has combined for five shutouts.
THE SERIES
Tuesday's match will be the ninth meeting between the two schools. The Orange owns a 6-1-1 advantage against the Great Danes, including a 4-0-1 mark in the last five meetings. The first meeting between the two teams took place in 1953 with Syracuse winning, 6-1. The two squads did not play again until 2003.
