
Dixon and Serratore Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Riley Dixon of the football team and Nicolette Serratore of the volleyball team are this week's Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week.

Dixon earned his undergraduate degree in accounting and is currently pursuing a master's degree in accounting in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. The punter ranks fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference in punting average, punting 37 times for 1,631 yards with an average of 44.1 yards per punt so far on the 2015 season. The Blossvale, N.Y. native is currently in the running for the 2015 Ray Guy Award, the nation's top punting honor. In addition, Dixon was an ESPN.com Midseason All-ACC selection and is a nominee for the Wuerffel Trophy, known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service." He was also a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, an award given to the most outstanding football scholar-athlete. The senior has been a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester since the fall of 2011 and was also named to the 2013 and 2014 All-ACC Academic Team.

Serratore is a senior chemical engineering major with a minor in management studies in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. The outside hitter currently ranks second on the team in kills (244) and digs (232) so far on the season. She also leads the team in service aces with 25. The Oakville, Ontario native was named the MVP of the Syracuse Tournament (9/20) after racking up 35 kills and 39 digs over the course of three matches. She has also been a member of the Athletic Director's Honor roll every semester since the fall of 2011 and was named to the 2013-2014 ACC Academic Honor Roll.

Serratore and the volleyball team face North Carolina and NC State this weekend at home, matching up against the Tar Heels this Friday at 7 p.m. and the Wolfpack on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be held at the Women's Building and are free admission.

Dixon and the football team travel to Louisville this Saturday, Nov. 7, taking on the Cardinals at 12:30 p.m. Syracuse returns to the Carrier Dome Saturday, Nov. 14 to host Clemson on Stars and Stripes Day, presented by Time Warner Cable. Tickets for the Clemson game are available online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B). In addition, discounted group tickets (20 or more) can be purchased by calling 315-443-3212.
