SCOUTING THE ORANGE (11-5-2)
Syracuse defeated North Carolina State, 2-0, on Wednesday in the ACC Tournament first round. Sophomore Julian Buescher and junior Chris Nanco scored for the Orange and freshman goalkeeper Hendrik Hilpert made two saves to record his second shutout of the season.
Â
Buescher increased his team-leading point total to 23. He also leads the squad with eight goals. He has recorded at least one point in 12 of his last 14 matches. His 23 points tie him for the fifth-highest total by a sophomore in school history and are the most for a member of the Orange since Emil Ekblom had 23 in 2013.

SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS (14-1-2)
North Carolina posted a 6-1-1 mark in ACC play this season to win the Coastal Division. The Tar Heels' only loss of the season came at No. 1 Wake Forest on Oct. 17. Tucker Hume leads a potent offense for North Carolina, which ranks eighth in the nation in scoring. Hume leads the squad with 22 points on a team-high nine goals and four assists. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper James Pyle has recorded a 0.67 goals-against average this season and his .837 save percentage ranks 12th in the country.

THE SERIES
Syracuse and North Carolina will meet for third time overall and second this season on Sunday. The Tar Heels have won both of the previous meetings, both of which were played in Chapel Hill. The teams met on Oct. 10 at Fetzer Field.
