The Sport Management (SPM) Club at Syracuse University will hold its eleventh annual charity sports auction on Wednesday, December 2 at the Carrier Dome. Silent bidding on over 450 items including sports memorabilia and hands-on experiences, electronics, and tickets to major sporting events, will take place in the backcourt during the Syracuse men's basketball game against Wisconsin. Doors for the 7:15 p.m. tip off will open at 5:15 p.m. All of the proceeds will benefit the Salvation Army Empire State Division.
Â
"The Salvation Army is honored and blessed to be this year's beneficiary of the Syracuse University Sport Management charity auction. The funds from this auction will increase our capacity to offer supportive environments that address the unique needs of each of the more than three thousand teens and young adults that look to us for help each year. We are excited to partner with the Syracuse Sport Management Club to help youth reach their full potential," said Major Karla Clark, General Secretary for the Salvation Army Empire State Division.Â
Â
The SPM Club is a student-run organization in the Falk College's Sport Management Department. Since its founding in 2005, the SPM Club has raised over $270,000 for local charities. Previous beneficiaries of the club's annual sports charity auction have included the Food Bank of Central New York, Boys & Girls Clubs, American Diabetes Association, Golisano Children's Hospital at Upstate, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of CNY, the Central New York SPCA, the Upstate Cancer Center, and most recently, Make-a-Wish Central New York, which received $59,185 as a result of the 2014 auction.
Â
The Salvation Army has been providing support to the residents of Onondaga County since 1883 and serves more than 41,000 residents each year, including children & families, youth, adults, and seniors.
Â
A game ticket for the men's basketball game is required for access to the auction and can be purchased via Cuse.com or at the Carrier Dome Box Office. Tickets can also be ordered by phone at 1-800-DOMETIX. For more information go to www.sucharitysportsauction.com.
