Football Welcomes Talented Signing Class

The Orange inked 23 to NLIs in the 2015 class.
Orange head coach Scott Shafer welcomed 23 new student-athletes to his 2015 roster today, the first day of the National Letter of Intent signing period. The 2015 signing class includes student-athletes from a range of 12 states and nine different positions. New Jersey leads the geographic representation with five, followed by three from Florida, Georgia, New York, and Pennsylvania, two from Ohio, and one each from Alabama, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Oregon. The class features seven defensive linemen, 5 offensive linemen, four defensive backs, three running backs, two linebackers, and one each for the quarterback, tight end, kicker, and long snapper positions.

Of the 23 signees, 17 were named team captain of their high school teams at least once in their careers, with five leading their team to their respective state championship games in the past season. The abundance of all-state honors also highlights this year's signing class, with 15 signees earning all-state recognition.Â

The 2015 signing class includes defensive linemen Kenny Carter, Steven Clark, Tyler Cross, Amir Ealey, Anthony Guidice Jr., Jake Pickard, and Qaadir Sheppard, offensive linemen Evan Adams, Colin Byrne, Samuel Clausman, Cody Conway, and Andrejas Duerig, defensive backs Marquise Blair, Daivon Ellison, Christopher Fredrick, and Kielan Whitner, running backs Jordan Fredericks, Tyrone Perkins, and Dontae Strickland, linebackers Shyheim Cullen and Troy Henderson Jr., quarterback Eric Dungey, and kicker Sterling Hofrichter.

Shafer also welcomed two new student-athletes to his program in January. Sophomore tight end Trey Dunkelberger transferred from Los Angeles Pierce College, and freshman long snapper Matt Keller graduated high school early to enroll for the spring semester.
