Orange takes over top spot in both national polls
BALTIMORE – Syracuse is the top-ranked men's lacrosse team in the land following its 15-9 victory yesterday against No. 5 Virginia. The Orange moved up to No. 1 in the most recent of editions of the USILA Division I Top 20 and Cascade/Maverik Media polls, released Monday, March 2.

Syracuse has wins against three ranked opponents, and with an overall record of 4-0, is one of nine remaining unbeaten teams in Division I lacrosse.
This week marks the 91st time in the history of the USILA Division I Top 20 that Syracuse has either shared or owned the No. 1 ranking outright.
The Orange earned 277 points and 11 of the 14 first-place votes cast in the USILA poll. North Carolina received the remaining three first-place votes and checked in at No. 2 with 263 points. Notre Dame (257 points), Denver (239 points) and Duke (223 points) round out the top five.
The top five teams are the same in the media rankings. Syracuse garnered 464 points and 15 first-place votes, followed by North Carolina (453 points, 7 first-place votes), Notre Dame (448 points, 2 first-place votes), Denver (407 points) and Duke (385 points).
The Orange returns to action Saturday, March 7 when it faces St. John's at the Cobb County Classic in Kennesaw, Ga. Faceoff is slated for 1 p.m.
