Star attackman named the USILA Division I Offensive Player of the Week
PERRY, N.Y. – Redshirt junior attackman Dylan Donahue picked up his second player of the week award for his performance Saturday at Notre Dame. Donahue was named the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division I Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday, April 1, two days after he was recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference co-Offensive Player of the Week.
Â
Donahue scored seven goals against the Irish, the most by an ACC player in one game this season. Six of his goals came in the second half, including five in a 13-minute stretch that helped the Orange rally from a 9-3 deficit. Donahue's last goal of the game gave Syracuse its only lead, 12-11, with 1:06 to play.
Â
Through eight games, Donahue has a team-high 29 goals. He ranks third nationally in goals per game at 3.63 per contest.
Â
Towson goalkeeper Tyler White was selected as the USILA Division I Defensive Player of the Week. White had 14 saves and allowed three goals in the Tigers' 6-3 victory over UMass.
Â
Second-ranked Syracuse is back in action Thursday, April 2 when it welcomes No. 9 Albany to the Carrier Dome for a top-10 tussle. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
