
Costas To Host Boeheim Foundation Gala

Bob Costas, a member of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame and a former Syracuse University student, will host the 16th Annual Basket Ball in support of the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation, on Saturday, April 25, at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y.
Costas is a 26-time Emmy Award-winning sports broadcaster and commentator. Costas is the only person in history to win Emmy Awards in news, sports, and entertainment. He has been named National Sportscaster of the Year by his peers a record eight times. In 2012, he was elected to the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame. He was also selected in 2012 for the Walter Cronkite Award for distinction in journalism, joining Al Michaels as the only two sportscasters to be honored.
Currently, Costas hosts "Football Night in America" on NBC, and maintains the spot as the prime-time host for NBC's Olympic coverage. Costas continues to be a contributor to NBC's "Nightly News" and the "Today Show." His 2000 book Fair Ball, a Fan's Case for Baseball spent several weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List. Costas has been a prominent part of NBC's presentations of major events, spawning from the Kentucky Derby and the U.S. Open Golf Championship.
Costas is a native of Queens, N.Y., but he spent his childhood on Long Island. Costas attended Syracuse, where he studied communications. He started his professional career at WSYR-TV and radio in 1973, while attending, Syracuse before joining KMOX radio in 1974. Costas has been with NBC since 1980.
