Rakeem Christmas traveled from New York to Minnesota to Cleveland on the evening of June 26 without ever leaving the Barclay Center. Christmas joined teammate Chris McCullough as a 2015 NBA Draft selection when he was picked 36th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round. The T-wolves then traded Christmas to Cleveland.
Christmas now joins a Cavalier squad that reached the NBA finals before losing to Golden State. He was aquired by Cleveland along with 31st overall selection Cedi Osman, in exchange for Tyrus Jones, the 24th pick.Â
The NBA conducted the 2015 Draft at the Barclay Center. McCullough became the 22nd Syracuse player tabbed in the first round when the Brooklyn Nets took him with the 29th overall pick.
Christmas was a consensus All-American as a senior. He earned ACC Most Improved Player and Co-Defensive Player of the Year in balloting by the league's coaches.Â
Syracuse also had two players selected in the 2014 draft -- Tyler Ennis (Phoenix Suns) and Jerami Grant (Philadelphia 76ers).
