Former Orange DB signs with New York Jets
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The New York Jets announced Friday that former Syracuse defensive back Keon Lyn has signed with the club as a free agent.
Â
After signing a deal with the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League less than a month ago, Lyn has agreed to terms with the Jets. Lyn appeared in one game for the Sharks.
Â
Lyn previously had stints in both the NFL and Canadian Football League. The 26-year-old was originally signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent following the 2014 NFL Draft, but was then waived by Indianapolis before signing with the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Prior to his professional career, Lyn was a standout at Syracuse before suffering a season-ending injury five games into his senior campaign of 2013. During his junior year, Lyn started 10 games for the Orange in the defensive backfield, setting career highs with 46 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, three interceptions and 10 passes defended. In 2011, Lyn made nine starts as a sophomore, tallying 23 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and three passes defended. He also saw limited action as a freshman in 2010.
A native of South Florida, Lyn attended Miramar High School, where he helped lead the Patriots to a state championship as a senior in 2009.
Â
Syracuse opens the 2015 season at home on Friday, Sept. 4 against Rhode Island. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Carrier Dome.
Â
Season and individual game tickets are available online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B). In addition, discounted group tickets (20 or more) for all home games can be purchased by calling 315-443-3212.
