'Cuse Tops UNH in Four-Set Victory

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse volleyball team opened home play on Saturday, defeating New Hampshire 3-1 in the first day of play hosting the Syracuse Tournament.
The Orange defeated the Wildcats in the first two sets, 25-13 and 25-19. New Hampshire took the third set 25-21, but Syracuse rallied in the fourth and final set, sealing a 26-24 win. Syracuse is now 7-2 on the season.
Senior outside hitters Monika Salkute and Silvi Uattara led the Orange on offense, each racking up 17 kills on the evening. Senior setter Gosia Wlaszczuk powered the hitters in the win, totaling 35 assists. Freshman Annie Bozzo saw action in the setter's position as well, adding 15 assists.
Sophomore libero Belle Sand led the team in aces and digs, posting four aces and 18 digs over the four sets.
The Orange continue Syracuse Tournament action when they take on Navy at 10 a.m. and Buffalo at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20.
