SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- After starting the season with a pair of road matches, the Syracuse men's soccer team hosts UC-Riverside in its home opener on Friday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. Admission at the SU Soccer Stadium is free of charge. The match is part of the first round of the Central New York Classic and the first game of a doubleheader with the Orange football squad, which takes on Rhode Island in its season opener in the Carrier Dome at 7 p.m.

SCOUTING THE ORANGE
Syracuse (1-1) is coming a 1-0 overtime victory against Bucknell. Redshirt sophomore Kenny Lassiter tallied the game-winner in the 95th minute for his first career goal. Freshman goalkeeper Austin Aviza recorded eight saves for his first career shutout. Syracuse is receiving votes in this week's NSCAA poll.

SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
UC-Riverside (1-1) has split its first two matches of the 2015 season. The Highlanders beat Concordia, 3-0, in their season opener before losing at San Diego on Monday, 3-0. Romario Lomeli and Tyler Miguel have one goal and one assist each to lead the UC-Riverside offense. Michael Salazar has added a goal, while Zachary Dunn has one assist. Ashkan Khosravi has started both matches in goal for the Highlanders. He has posted a 1.71 goals-against average and a .500 save percentage.

SERIES HISTORY
Friday's match will be the first-ever meeting between Syracuse and UC-Riverside. The Highlanders are coached by Tim Cupello, who served as an assistant coach for the Orange for three seasons.
