Mastracci places third in the women's eight
AIGUEBELETTE-LE-LAC, France – Former members of both the Syracuse University men's and women's rowing programs competed at the 2015 World Rowing Championships this past weekend on Lac d'Aiguebelette in France. Mike Gennaro '11 and Natalie Mastracci '13 rowed for the United States and Canada, respectively.

Mastracci and the Canada women's eight crew finished in third place on Sunday, earning a bronze medal. The Canadian boat finished the race in 6:09.050, less than four seconds behind first-place United States. Last year, Mastracci and Canada finished in second place in the women's eight event at the world championships.

Gennaro and the United States men's eight boat finished in seventh place at the world championships, placing first in the second-level final on Sunday. The American crew covered the course in 5:27.640, beating out eighth-place Poland by less than two seconds. It marked the first time Gennaro had been a part of the United States men's eight at the world championships. Previously, he had raced in the men's four.

For the third straight year, the Syracuse men's and women's rowing programs will kick off the fall with the Evening at Ten Eyck. The event, which includes night racing, will be held on Sept. 19 at the James A. Ten Eyck Boathouse in Liverpool, N.Y.
