Pickett, Williams named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Student-athletes Madeline Pickett of the Orange cheer team and Rodney Williams of the Syracuse football team are this week's Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Pickett and the cheer squad join Williams and the football team on the Carrier Dome turf Saturday, Oct. 15 for a 3:45 p.m. kickoff against Virginia Tech. Tickets are on sale now online, by phone (888-DOMETIX), at Destiny USA kiosks and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).
Pickett is a dual major in social studies education and history in the School of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences, respectively.
A native of San Diego, Calif., Pickett is a two-time recipient of the Caswell Cheerleading Scholarship for 2016 and 2017 and a member of the 2016 UCA College Nationals Finalist team. The senior is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Pickett was selected as the cheer team captain for the 2016-17 academic year.
Williams is a dual major in finance and marketing management in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. The redshirt sophomore is an active member of the Syracuse Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
A native of Cherry Hill, N.J., Williams is a two-time ACC Honor Roll selection and a three-time Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll member.
Williams has tallied 24 tackles (17 solo). He had four tackles and one pass breakup at Wake Forest.
