SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse linebacker Zaire Franklin is joined by a different member of the Orange football team in the Cuse TV weekly feature, Z60. In the fifth installment, Franklin's guest is senior tight end Cameron MacPherson.Â
MacPherson had his best game of the season Saturday at Wake Forest with two receptions for 26 yards, including a 12-yard catch for a first down in the opening quarter. Quarterback Eric Dungey went right back to MacPherson on the next play and the senior made a 14-yard grab, the longest of his career. MacPherson played in all 12 games last season, mostly on special teams.
MacPherson was named a semifinalist for the 2016 William V. Campbell Trophy given by the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Football Hall of Fame to the top football scholar-athlete in the country. As a standout in the classroom, MacPherson holds two bachelor's degrees from Syracuse. One in international relations and the other in television, radio and film. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Pan African studies.
Franklin, MacPherson and the rest of the Orange are back in the Carrier Dome after three weeks away to host Virginia Tech Saturday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is set for 3:45 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPNU with Eamon McAnaney (play-by-play) and John Congemi (analyst) on the call.
Tickets for Saturday's game, as well as SU's two remaining home games versus North Carolina State (Nov. 12) and Florida State (Nov. 19), are available online, by phone (888-DOMETIX), at Destiny USA kiosks and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).
