Syracuse and Wake Forest to square off in quarterfinal
The Syracuse field hockey team earned the No. 2 seed in the 2016 ACC Championship, setting up a quarterfinal round matchup with host and No. 7 seed Wake Forest in the first game of the Tournament.
Duke claimed the regular season title on Saturday and the bye to the semifinals that accompanies it. Boston College, Louisville, North Carolina and Virginia all tied for third at 3-3 in league play this season, with the Eagles coming out on top of the tiebreaking scenarios to earn the No. 3 seed.
Louisville garnered the No. 4 seed, with North Carolina earning the No. 5 seed and will square off in another quarterfinal matchup.
Â
Virginia earned the No. 6 seed and will play Boston College in the quarterfinal, with the winner of that matchup meeting the winner of the Orange and Demon Deacons' game in the semifinal.
Â
Syracuse is looking to advance to its third-straight ACC title game this season.
The Orange have two remaining regular season contests, beginning with tomorrow's matchup against No. 13 Boston University, before returning home next week to play Indiana on senior day.
The ACC Championship begins on Nov. 3 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with all games televised on ACC Network Extra and RSN.
