From the Start
- The penultimate weekend of the 2026 regular season is here and the No. 14 Syracuse Orange have the chance to conclude things at home.Â
- It's East Coast meets West Coast this weekend as the Orange take on cross-country foes Stanford on Friday (NOW: 4:30 p.m.) and No. 16 California (Noon) on Sunday. ACC Network will be on hand for Sunday's action with Leah Secondo and Suzanne Bush in person for the call.
- Friday's game kicks off the longest home stretch of the season for the Orange, bettering the pair Syracuse hosted at Coyne Stadium two weeks ago.
- Syracuse makes its second-straight Sunday appearance on ACC Network with a noon first push against No. 16 California. Last week the Orange battled UNC to the finish on national television. All the ACC Tournament action will air on ACC Network as well.
- 'Cuse, the most road-tested team in the ACC with eight true road contests away from J.S. Coyne Stadium, with another neutral site game on the ledger as well, finally gets to play a run of games at home.
- Friday is Syracuse's annual Breast Cancer Awareness game, with a nod to Dream Crazy For Gretta, an organization in memory of former University of Pennsylvania field hockey student-athlete Gretta Ehret, who passed away in June 2025 from metastatic breast cancer.
- The Orange dropped their last outing in a fierce 2-1 battle at No. 10 North Carolina. It was Syracuse's third trip to the state of North Carolina this season, having previously played at Wake Forest and Duke.
- Stanford makes its first trip east since the first weekend of October. The Cardinal is coming off a 2-0 win at UC Davis on Friday before an idle Sunday.
- California likewise makes its first trek east since the same weekend in early October. The Golden Bears routed UC Davis 7-1 on Sunday and will face Boston College on Friday afternoon in Newton, Massachusetts.
- The Orange are looking to keep things rolling against the Cardinal. Syracuse has won its last three games against Stanford with the lone blemish in the series, which dates back to 1997, coming in a 3-2 loss in Berkeley during the 2019 season.
- Against the Golden Bears, Syracuse looks to remain clean at home with a 2-0 record at J.S. Coyne since 1997. But the Orange are seeking a bounce back result after falling 1-0 in the second game of the California trip last season. The last time these teams met at Coyne, the Orange walked away with a 2-1 overtime win with Bo van Kempen converting the overtime corner.
- Farquhar is in the later stages of her fourth regular season at the helm of the program, looking to add to her 44 wins in her time at Syracuse. The Orange reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for a second time in those first three years last year, knocking out Liberty in strokes.
With a Win Friday Syracuse Would...
- Improve to 3-1 at J.S. Coyne this season.
- Run its record to 4-1 on blue AstroTurf this year, adding a 3-0 win at Virginia in late September.
- Bump Syracuse's record away from home to 27-17 under head coach Lynn Farquhar (since 2023).
- Notch the 12th win in the month of October under Farquhar's watch, including improving to 11-6 in the 10th month since 2024.
- Jump Syracuse's conference record to 3-3 on the season.
- Keep Syracuse unblemished at home against the Cardinal, currently sitting at 4-0 all-time at Coyne against Stanford.
- Be the 45th win in Lynn Farquhar's head coaching career at Syracuse and her 152nd overall win as a head coach, including 107 at Saint Joseph's.
Road Warriors Meet Road Warriors
- The regular season miles are logged and the bus can take a break.
- Syracuse has logged nine games away from Coyne this season, the most road or neutral site games in the ACC to date.
- Virginia and North Carolina have played eight games away from their home venues this season. The Cavaliers have played seven true road games while the Tar Heels have logged six.
- Syracuse has played the fewest home games by far this season, hosting Stanford on Friday for just its fourth home game of the season. Only two teams in the league are unbeaten at home in conference games: Syracuse (1-0) and Duke (3-0).
- But this weekend's opponents are well traveled as well. Stanford has logged an estimated 16,000 miles while California has nearly 15,000 to its credit. The former is 0-2 in ACC road games this year and 3-2 overall, while the latter is 1-0 in roaders in Conference play and a clean 5-0 overall in true road games.
