SYRACUSE, N.Y. –  After two straight weeks on the road, the Syracuse women's soccer team will return to the friendly confines of the SU Soccer Stadium for a pair of matches this weekend. First up, the Orange will host Virginia Tech (8-4-1, 0-3-1) on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
Â
Syracuse will look to bounce back after a loss at No. 10 Duke last week. The win propelled the Blue Devils into first place in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings.
Â
The Orange are led in scoring by junior Alana O'Neill with four goals and junior Eva Gordon and senior Stephanie Skilton have each added three goals this season. Eight total Orange players have scored in 2016. Freshmen Taylor Bennett and Sydney Brackett lead the team in assists with three each.
Â
Virginia Tech is coming off a 2-2 draw against No. 12 Clemson on Sept. 30 that snapped a three-game losing streak for the Hokies. After climbing the NSCAA Coaches poll throughout the beginning of the season, reaching as high as No. 16, the Hokies fell out of the rankings on Sept. 27.
Â
Syracuse is 4-1-1 at home this season. The Hokies bring a 2-2 road record into the match.
Â
Thursday's game will serve as the annual "Pink Game" as the team will wear pink uniforms and fans are encouraged to wear pink as well. Â
Â
The game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra with Mike Drew (play-by-play) and Connor Morrissette (color) on the call.
Â
On Sunday, the Orange will host No. 2 Florida State (8-1-1, 2-0-1) at 1 p.m. The Seminoles have held opponents to two goals all season, the second lowest mark in the country.
