Syracuse wins the NCAA Northeast Regional for the seventh time since 2009.
For the fourth-consecutive season and seventh time since 2009 the Syracuse men's cross country team is the NCAA Northeast Regional Champions.
'Cuse took the win in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. on Friday afternoon to secure the an automatic berth in the NCAA Championship to attempt to defend its title. Justyn Knight won the individual championship, his fourth individual meet title of 2016, running away with it in 30:30.52 over 10k.

The NCAA Northeast Region Championship is head coach Chris Fox's 10th regional championship since coming to Syracuse in 2005, with seven titles earned from the men's program and three from the women's program.
Knight led five men inside the top-10, with Colin Bennie (30:32.75) taking second, Iliass Aouani (30:41.23) finishing seventh, Philo Germano (30:47.36) crossing the line in ninth and Joel Hubbard (30:47.44) rounding out the Syracuse scoring and top-10 with his 10th-place finish. Adam Visokay (30:52.25) finished 15th, while Griff Molino (31:30.26) took 32nd as well for the Orange.
The women finished eighth overall, led by Paige Stoner's 10th-place finish. Stoner crossed the line in 20:43.50 over the 6k course, with Emma Wilson (21:32.40) finishing 43rd. Sydney Leiher was the third member of the Orange across the line in 21:54.20, followed by Shannon Maloine in 21:56.20, which was good for 67th. McKenzie Altmayer finished 74th overall in 21:59.80 to round out the Syracuse scoring.
The men's team will look to defend its National Championship on Saturday, Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
