Orange star leads all Power-Five receivers with 79 catches
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Orange redshirt senior wide receiver Amba Etta-Tawo was named one of the 10 semifinalists for the 2016 Biletnikoff Award by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation on Monday, Nov. 14. The award is named after legendary Florida State and Oakland Raiders star Fred Biletnikoff and is presented to the season's outstanding receiver.
Monday's announcement comes on the heels of Etta-Tawo earning an invitation last week to the Reese's Senior Bowl, the most prestigious college football all-star game for outgoing seniors.
Etta-Tawo leads the Atlantic Coast Conference and ranks in the top 10 nationally in receiving yards (1,246), receiving yards per game (124.6) and receptions per contest (7.9). He is second in the league with eight TD receptions. His 79 catches this season are tied for fifth in the country and are the most among Power-Five receivers.
The Powder Springs, Ga. native recently became the owner of Syracuse's two most prestigious single-season receiving records – most catches and most yards. He surpassed Marvin Harrison's 1995 yardage record (1,131) and Alec Lemon's single-season catch standard (72) at Clemson on Nov. 5.
Â
The three finalists for this year's Biletnikoff Award will be announced on Monday, Nov. 21. The winner will be crowned live during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8.
