Special "Pearl" Price Gets You 'Cuse-Hoyas Spot
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It's Pearl Washington Week in Syracuse and in recognition of the legendary guard's many contributions to the Orange basketball program, fans can see Syracuse play Georgetown on December 17 for as little as the number on Pearl's jersey -- $31.
The passing of Dwayne "Pearl" Washington this year triggered a number of emotions throughout Orange Nation -- from his family, his teammates, his coaches and his fans. In a salute to "Pearl," Syracuse has planned to celebrate the legacy of one of college basketball's best in a number of ways leading up to a matchup with long-time rival Georgetown.
Washington electrified his audience on a number of stages in his Syracuse career but many of his greatest performances came against the Hoyas at the height of the BIG EAST Conference battles in the early 1980s. The Carrier Dome and Madison Square Garden were two of the most prominent arenas to showcase the encounters between Syracuse's Pearl and Georgetown's Patrick Ewing, the Orange's Jim Boeheim and the Hoyas' John Thompson, and others.
Fans interested in seeing the continuation of the rivalry in person can do so for as little as $31 a ticket. Syracuse and Georgetown are taking to the Dome hardwood at noon on Saturday, Dec. 17. Ticket information is available online, by calling 888-DOME-TIX, or at the Dome Box Office.
