Orange standout continues to pile up postseason honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Orange redshirt senior wide receiver Amba Etta-Tawo added to his haul of All-America awards yesterday with his selection to the Athlon Sports All-America Fourth Team, according to an announcement by the publication.
Â
It's the fourth All-America honor for Etta-Tawo, who also received plaudits from Sporting News (second team), the Associated Press (third team) and Phil Steele (fourth team).
Â
A graduate transfer, Etta-Tawo authored the most prolific receiving season in team history in his one year on campus. He set or tied 10 school records in 2016, including the SU single-season marks for most receptions (94), most receiving yards (1,482), most receiving yards per game (123.5) and most 100-yard receiving games (7). He also tied the Orange season standard with 14 touchdown receptions, including a program-record five against Pittsburgh on Nov. 26.
Â
The No. 15 player in college football this season according to ESPN, Etta-Tawo ranks fifth in ACC single-season history in receptions, second in yards, second in yards per game and seventh in touchdown catches. He leads all Power-Five receivers in both receptions and yards heading into bowl season, and ranks fourth in the FBS in total receiving yardage and third in yards per game.
Â
Etta-Tawo will participate in the Reese's Senior Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 27 in Mobile, Ala.
