#CuseTop10: De'Jon Wilson Seals Virgina Tech Win

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – As 2016 draws to a close, Cuse.com is counting down the top 10 plays from this year's Orange football season. One play will be featured each day with the top play revealed on New Year's Eve.

Play No. 8 on our countdown is senior De'Jon Wilson's fumble recovery that squashed No. 17 Virginia Tech's chances of a comeback on Oct. 15.

THE SETUP: With 5:23 remaining, the Orange led Virginia Tech 31-17. The Hokies took over on their own 8-yard line after a holding penalty on the kickoff. Virginia Tech picked up two first downs and SU head coach Dino Babers called timeout with 4:18 to play and the ball at the Virginia Tech 34.Â

THE PLAY: Virginia Tech quarterback Jerod Evans is forced from the pocket by Josh Black and Chris Slayton. Evans sprints to his left and is stripped from behind by Slayton. The ball squirts free and is recovered by Wilson at the Virginia Tech 47-yard line. Â

THE AFTERMATH: Syracuse took possession with 4:08 to go and successfully ran out the clock to record its first win against a top-25 opponent since 2012. The win moved the Orange to 3-4 on the season and marked the program's first win against an ACC Coastal Division foe since joining the conference in 2013.Â
