Gatti Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - Syracuse softball student-athlete AnnaMarie Gatti has been named the ACC Pitcher of the Week after her performance on the mound this past weekend at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The nod marks the sophomore's first conference honor of her career.

Gatti led the Orange to two wins over Ohio State, holding the Buckeyes to three hits during her total eight innings of play. The Scottdale, Pa. native threw a complete shutout against Ohio State on Saturday, allowing just two hits over the course of seven innings while striking out four batters on the Orange's way to a 1-0 victory.

On Sunday against the Buckeyes, Gatti was credited with a save after stepping into the circle in the bottom of the seventh, allowing one hit while sealing a 3-2 victory with a strikeout that ended the game. Gatti currently holds a 1.91 ERA over the course of 25.2 innings pitched, with 10 strikeouts accumulated thus far on the 2016 season.

The Orange head to Florida this weekend, competing in the Citrus Classic in Orlando. Syracuse takes on Fordham in its first game of the weekend on Friday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m.
