SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse softball team heads down to the Sunshine State this weekend at the Citrus Classic II in Kissimmee, Fla., matching up against Fordham, Morgan State, No. 22 UCF, Charlotte, and Bryant at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The Orange kick off the weekend on Friday, Feb. 26 with two match ups against the Rams and the Bears at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with the game against Fordham being broadcast on ESPN3. On Saturday, 'Cuse faces No. 22 UCF at 1:15 p.m. and Charlotte at 5:45 p.m. The weekend concludes on Sunday with a 10 a.m. contest against Bryant.

The Orange look to continue its three game winning streak coming off of a successful trip down to the Peach State this past weekend, finishing the ACC/Big Ten Challenge 3-1 while evening out its overall record to 4-4. 'Cuse defeated Ohio State twice while splitting 1-1 with Purdue, posting an 11-3 run-rule win against the Boilermakers in the second game on Saturday.

In the five innings against the Boilermakers, the Orange racked up 11 hits, blasting five home runs out of the park. The five home runs accumulated came to be just one home run shy of the program record for most home runs in a game.

PREVIEWING THE WEEKEND
The Orange face its second ranked opponent of the season this weekend, taking on No. 22 UCF on Saturday. The Knights are coming off of an 0-5 weekend after facing five top 25 opponents No. 14 Texas A&M, No. 10 UCLA, No. 16 Arizona, No. 5 LSU, and No. 8 Washington. UCF brought home wins against Liberty, Rutgers, Alabama, and Fordham opening weekend.

Syracuse first matches up against Fordham, a squad with a 2-8 start to the 2016 season. The Rams' wins have come against Rutgers and DePaul, while six of their eight losses have come from ranked opponents, including No. 3 Auburn and No. 4 Alabama.

Morgan State is 1-4 so far on the season, getting its first win at the end of opening weekend against Akron, 4-2. The Bears' losses have come from Chattanooga, Bethune-Cookman, Liberty, and Stetson.

Charlotte is off to an undefeated 9-0 start to the season, outscoring its opponents 63-8. Bryant kicks off its 2016 campaign this weekend, coming off of a 17-32 record last season.

- Sophomore pitcher AnnaMarie Gatti was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week after her performance in the circle against Ohio State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. She currently holds a 1.91 ERA over the course of 25.2 innings pitched, with 10 strikeouts accumulated thus far on the 2016 season. Her work over the weekend places her at first in the conference in saves (1) and shutouts (2).
- Freshman Hannah Dossett has proven herself to be one of the early-season stars of the Orange softball team. The Warsaw, Ky. native posted a double home run game against Purdue, registering four RBI while going 3-3 in the five-inning run-rule. She also added two doubles over the four-game weekend, placing her at sixth in the ACC in doubles per game (0.38). The infielder/catcher finished with six hits over the ACC/Big Ten Challenge weekend, including two doubles and two home runs, while racking up seven RBI. Dossett currently holds a .333 batting average on the 2016 season and a .762 slugging percentage.
- Freshman Andrea Bombace, sophomore Rachel Burkhardt, junior Alyssa Dewes, and senior Corinne Ozanne also registered one home run each over the weekend.
- Sophomore Sammy Fernandez and senior Corinne Ozanne made their marks on the defensive end this past weekend. Fernandez accumulated seven putouts, five assists, and a 1.000 fielding percentage while Ozanne registered 16 putouts, seven assists, and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

The Orange head to the west coast next weekend at the UCLA Tournament in Los Angeles, Calif. 'Cuse faces CSU Bakersfield, CSU Northridge, UC Davis, and No. 11 UCLA with the Orange kicking the weekend off against the Runners on Friday, Mar. 4 at noon.
