CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Orange had a busy Saturday of press conferences and then practice at the United Center, all in preparation for Sunday's NCAA Tournament Elite 8 matchup with Virginia. The two ACC rivals will square off on TBS with a tip time of 6:09 EST.
The weather in the Windy City cooperated with the Orange's extended stay with the sun emerging and temperatures rising to spring-like numbers.
Coach Jim Boeheim had media sessions with Westwood One, the NCAA Radio network, and the announcers working the telecast for the Turner/CBS crew. Graduate student Trevor Cooney also met with Westwood One's Gary Cohen and Jim Jackson. Graduate student Michael Gbinije was joined by freshman Tyler Lydon in a meeting with Kevin Harlan, Dan Bonner and Lewis Johnson for Turner/CBS.
In a change from the first day of media sessions, all five Syracuse starters joined Coach Boeheim in a formal press conference with the media. The rest of the team was available to media in the Syracuse locker room. Following that, the five starters were split up in individual breakout rooms where media could ask additional questions.
Once the team completed its media responsibilities, the Orange convened on the United Center court for a 90-minute practice. In addition to the team's regular workout, the squad received the coaching staff's scouting report on Virginia.
Syracuse is making it's ninth* appearance in the Elite Eight.
