WASHINGTON DC – Syracuse will face a familiar foe when it opens play in the 2016 New York Life ACC Tournament on Wednesday, March 9. The Orange and Pittsburgh will meet in the first game of the day at the Verizon Center at 12 p.m.

TOP FIVE STORYLINES TO FOLLOW
ORANGE IN THE ACC TOURNAMENT
Syracuse is looking for its first win in the ACC Tournament as it makes its second appearance in the championship. The Orange made its debut in the ACC Tournament in 2014. Syracuse entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed but was upset in the quarterfinals by North Carolina State, 66-63.

SCOUTING THE ORANGE
Syracuse enters postseason play with a record of 19-12. The Orange recorded a 9-9 mark in league play and are the No. 9 seed in the ACC Tournament. Graduate student Michael Gbinije leads Syracuse in scoring, averaging 17.6 points per game. He is one of four players who average double figures in scoring. Junior Tyler Roberson leads the squad in rebounding, averaging 8.2 per contest.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Pittsburgh, the No. 8 seed in the tournament, finished the regular season with a 20-9 mark, including a 9-8 record in ACC action. The Panthers ended the season with three losses in their last four games. All-ACC performer Michael Young is Pittsburgh's leading scorer and rebounder. He averages 15.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.

ROUND THREE
Syracuse and Pittsburgh will meet for the third time this season. The Panthers swept the two regular-season meetings, defeating the Orange, 72-61, at the Petersen Events Center on December 30, and posting a 66-52 win at the Carrier Dome on February 20.

THE SERIES
Wednesday's game marks the 109th meeting between the two schools since 1914. Syracuse leads the series, 65-44.
