HOUSTON -- Final Four preparations continued in Houston on Friday with another round of activities at NRG Stadium. Syracuse handled its media obligations and had a spirited open practice on the game court where the Orange faces North Carolina on Saturday night.
Syracuse (23-13), seeded 10th, faces North Carolina (32-6), the lone remaining number-one seed, in the second semifinal on Saturday. The first game pits Oklahoma (29-7) against Villanova (33-5) in a battle of two-seeds. Tip-off for the opener is at 6:09 EST while the second game will begin approximately 30 minutes after the first one ends.
The Orange and the Tar Heels are meeting for the third time this season. The two ACC rivals met twice during the regular-season with North Carolina winning both contests.
The team's Friday schedule began with press conferences for Coach Jim Boeheim and the players. Syracuse's five starters -- Trevor Cooney, Michael Gbinije, DaJuan Coleman, Tyler Roberson and Malachi Richardson -- each had private media sessions in "breakout" rooms while Coach Boeheim was answering questions at the main press conference. He was soon joined by Cooney and Gbinije while the rest of the players conducted interviews in the team locker room.
Syracuse had a spirited "open practice" in front of an Orange-clad crowd on the game court.
