
Marquis Spruill Signs with Toronto Argonauts

Linebacker helped lead SU to three bowl wins
TORONTO – Former Orange linebacker Marquis Spruill has signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. The Argonauts announced the addition of Spruill and defensive lineman Steve Miller on Monday, April 4. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Spruill played four years for the Orange from 2010-13 and recorded 243 career tackles. He finished second in school history with 41 tackles for loss. A 2012 All-BIG EAST selection and 2013 All-ACC Honorable Mention choice, Spruill helped lead Syracuse to three bowl wins in his four seasons.

Spruill was selected in the fifth round (168th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He suffered a knee injury during training camp and spent the 2014 season on injured reserve. Spruill was released by the Falcons in August of last year.

The Argonauts are coached by former Maryland quarterback Scott Milanovich and finished with an overall record of 10-8 in 2015. They open the 2016 regular season June 23 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
