Fifteen student-athletes will represent the Orange as individuals at the NCAA Track and Field East Prelim next week, while the Orange will also have a relay team competing.
Eleven men and the Orange's 4x100-meter team, as well as four women, will compete in Jacksonville for 'Cuse. The group features five student-athletes who are currently seeded in the top-five of their respective event.
Justyn Knight enters as the top Syracuse qualifier, owning the No. 2 seed in the east in the men's 5k, behind only Villanova's Patrick Tiernan. Colin Bennie (10k) and Freddie Crittenden III (110-hurdles) each own the third-best time in their event. Shyalyn Tuite leads the women's qualifiers, with the fourth-best 10k time in the East Region, while Adam Palamar ranks fifth in the 1500-meters.
'Cuse has large contingents of athletes in multiple events, including four qualifiers in the men's 10,000-meters. Behind Bennie, Philo Germano owns the seventh-best time, while Dan Lennon (13th) and Kevyn Hoyos (37th) will also compete for SU in the event.
Syracuse also has three competitors in the men's 110-meter hurdles. Behind Crittenden, Richard Floyd (31st) and David Gilstrap (34th) also qualified in that event.
Two members of the Orange will competed in the men's 1500-meters and women's 10,000-meters as well. In addition to Palamar, Joel Hubbard is the 23rd qualifier in the 1500, while Margo Malone (11th) will also compete with Tuite in the 10k.
