
Elmore Named Connecticut Player of the Year

Elmore led Capital Prep to fourth straight state title
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Syracuse University women's basketball signee Desiree Elmore was named the 2015-16 New Haven Register Connecticut Girls' Basketball Player of the Year, as announced on April 20. Elmore has guided Capital Prep to four consecutive state championship titles.
As a senior, Elmore averaged 26.7 points, 15.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 3.7 steals, and 3.5 blocked shots per contest. She finished her scholastic career with school records for points (2,233), rebounds (1,318), steals (389), and blocks (267).
In her four seasons at Capital Prep, her team never lost to a school from the state of Connecticut. In addition, her squad finished No. 1 in the New Haven Register state rankings in each of the past four years.
Elmore, the Orange's first espnW HoopGurlz five-star recruit since Brianna Butler and Brittney Sykes, leads Syracuse's nationally-recognized recruiting class. For the second straight season, SU has hauled in one of the top 25 signing classes in the country, signing the No. 25 class according to the Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report.
