
Molloy, Linde Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Redshirt junior Evan Molloy of the Syracuse men's lacrosse team and graduate student Maura Linde of the women's track and field team are this week's Orange Scholar Athletes of the Week.
Molloy majors in communication and rhetorical studies while minoring in political communication in The College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA). The Manhasset, N.Y. native recently helped guide the men's lacrosse team to its second consective Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. Molloy combined to make 27 saves in between the pipes in the tournament, which included a career-high 14 saves against North Carolina in the ACC semifinals. The redshirt junior came back strong in the ACC championship, turning aside 13 shots, as Syracuse knocked off Duke by the final score of 14-8. With his efforts, Molloy was named Most Valuable Player of the ACC Tournament.
Linde is working to earn her Master's in social work in The School of Social Work. The Sykesville, Md. native recently finished second with a time of 4:39.37 at the Big Red Invitational at Cornell in the women's 1500-meter race. Including Linde's finish, Syracuse claimed five of the top nine spots in the race. At the Larry Ellis Invitational on April 23, Linde finished seventh in the 5k, crossing the finish line with a time of 16:59.54.
Molloy and the men's lacrosse team are back home in the Carrier Dome this Saturday to take on Colgate at 1 p.m. Tickets can be accessed here.
Linde and the women's track and field team will compete in the ACC Outdoor Championships from Friday, May 13 to Sunday May 15.
