SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Syracuse cornerback David Byrd will be inducted into the Capital Region Football Hall of Fame at a ceremony on Saturday, July 30 at the Radisson Inn on Wolf Road in Albany. At Syracuse, Byrd lettered in both sports. He played football for the Orange in 1996, 1998 and 1999, taking the 1997 season off to focus on track. He amassed 38 career tackles (31 solo), two sacks, and one interception in 25 games on the gridiron.
Â
Following his collegiate career, Byrd made professional stops in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks. He also spent time with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. Byrd currently works as a personal trainer for Fitness Artist in the greater Albany area. Â
