Five Advance to Next Round of Olympic Trials

Five different members of the Orange advanced to the next stage in their respective events at the U.S. and Canadian Olympic Trials on Friday.
Syracuse alum Jarret Eaton and rising senior Freddie Crittenden III raced their way into the semifinals of the 110-meter hurdles at the U.S. Olympic trials on Friday.
Eaton automatically earned one of the 18 spots into Saturday's semifinal races by taking a top-three spot out of his heat, crossing the line in 13.66 seconds. Crittenden advanced on time, posting a mark of 13.77 seconds into a headwind.
Donald Pollitt II just missed out on moving on, racing to a time of 14.13 seconds.
Following the lead of the two American advancers, rising juniors Justyn Knight and Adam Palamar continued the hot stretch for the Orange in Edmonton at the Canadian Olympic Trials.
Knight turned in a time of 3:48.66 to finish third in his heat and easily qualify to Saturday's final, while Palamar finished second in his heat with a mark of 3:51.34.
'Cuse alum Jillian Drouin also advanced to the finals of the shot put, with a mark of 13.29 meters in Friday's qualifying.
Crittenden and Eaton will compete in the semifinals on Saturday at 7:25 p.m. with the finals later that evening to attempt to make it to Rio. Knight and Palamar race at 7:20 local time, 8:20 eastern, to try to carve their place into the Olympics as well. Drouin competes in the shot put at the same time as Knight and Palamar, while also competing in the high jump on Saturday as well. Michael LeBlanc will also get his Olympic trials started Saturday in the 100-meter dash.
