Late Goal Lifts Orange By Buckeyes in Final Exhibition

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Sophomore Jonathan Hagman scored with less than two minutes to lift the Syracuse men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory against Ohio State in its final preparation for the 2016 season. The Orange posted a 1-0-2 mark in three exhibition contests.

Senior Chris Nanco started the winning play, breaking free and forcing the Buckeyes' goalkeeper to make a save. Redshirt junior Kenny Lassiter collected the rebound and passed it to Hagman, who found the back of the net in the 88th minute for the game-winner.

Syracuse took the lead in the 28th minute on a set piece. Redshirt senior Liam Callahan served the ball into the box to sophomore Kamal Miller (Pickering, Ontario) at the back post. His header was redirected by sophomore Miles Robinson into the net.

The score remained that way until the 68th minute when Ohio State recorded the equalizer. The Orange was the more dangerous team the remainder of the match, finally breaking through on Hagman's goal.

Syracuse officially opens the 2016 season on Friday, Aug. 26 against Massachusetts at the SU Soccer Stadium in the first round of the Central New York Classic. Admission is free of charge.
