FAIRFIELD, CONN. – The Syracuse women's soccer team look to end its road trip on a high note after a 1-0 win on Thursday night at Rhode Island. The Orange will take on Fairfield on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Junior Jess Vigna got the game winner with a little over a minute left in regulation on a penalty kick on Thursday night. The goal came after Eva Gordon got into the penalty area, threatening to score, and was taken down by a Rhode Island defender.

The Orange are 5-1-1 on the season and have only two matches remaining in non-conference play with matches against Fairfield and Buffalo. Gordon, Steph Skilton and Alana O'Neill lead Syracuse in scoring with two goals each. Four other Orange players have found the back of the net this season. Junior goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan has four shutouts this season, tying her season-high only seven games into the season.

Fairfield is 1-6-0 on the season with a win against Sacred Heart. The Stags dropped a 1-0 decision to Drexel on Thursday night. Fairfield is led in scoring by Brenna Brown with three goals. Goalkeeper Jenna Pike has started all six games for Fairfield and is allowing 2.67 goals per game.
