R.J. Anderson to be Inducted into Plainville Sports Hall of Fame

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Syracuse quarterback R.J. Anderson will be inducted into the Plainville Sports Football Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Nuchie's Restaurant in Forestville, Conn.

Anderson is part of a five-member induction class, which also includes a pair of state championship teams. Tickets for the banquet are $45. They are available at the dental offices of Dr. Rusty Camp or the Farmington Savings Bank, located at 117 East Street in Plainville, Conn.

A four-year starter for Plainville High School (Conn.) from 1995-98, Anderson passed for 3,140 yards and 45 touchdowns during his scholastic career. He was a two-time All-Northwest Conference selection and a PrepStar All-Region choice. Anderson also played basketball and baseball for the Blue Devils, earning all-state honors in baseball.

At Syracuse, Anderson was a four-year letterwinner (2000-03). He started 31 career games, including eight as a sophomore to help lead the Orange to a 10-3, a No. 14 final national ranking and a victory over Kansas State in the Insight.com Bowl.

Anderson ranks in the top 10 on several SU career record lists, including most completions (7th - 358), most passing yards (6th - 4,698), most touchdown passes (8th – 21), most yards of total offense (7th – 5,347) and most touchdowns responsible for (10th – 34). In addition, Anderson recorded three 300-yard passing games in his career, and his two interceptions thrown in 2001 are the fewest for a Syracuse quarterback with a minimum of 100 attempts in a season.
