Sophomore safety made a career-high 11 tackles versus USF
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse sophomore safety Daivon Ellison was named the Atlantic Coast Conference co-Defensive Back of the Week on Monday, Sept. 19 for his performance against USF. Ellison shared this week's award with Louisville safety Josh Harvey-Clemons.
Â
In his first start at strong safety, Ellison notched a career-high and team-best 11 tackles. He also forced the second fumble of his career when he jarred the ball free from USF receiver Rodney Adams in the first quarter. Ellison's 11 stops are the most for an Orange defender so far this season.
Â
Ellison has 12 tackles on the year. He also has SU's lone interception this season, picking off Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson at the end of the first half on Sept. 9 and returning it 50 yards.
Â
The Orange are back in action Saturday, Sept. 24 when they face Connecticut in their first road test of 2016. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on the CBS Sports Network.
