
Dungey, Sibley named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Eric Dungey of the Syracuse football team and Jessica Sibley of the ice hockey team are this week's Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Dungey is a finance major in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. The sophomore is also an active representative of Syracuse's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
The Lake Oswego, Ore. native has completed 117 passes for 1,367 yards and nine touchdowns. The starting quarterback also tallied a pair of rushing touchdowns this season. Overall, Dungey has accounted for 11 of SU's 12 offensive touchdowns through four games.
Dungey threw for a career-high 407 yards and two touchdowns last Saturday at Connecticut, marking the ninth time in 12 career games that he passed for multiple scores
Sibley is a communication and rhetorical studies major in the College of Visual and Performing arts. The ice hockey team captain was the CHA scoring trophy winner and Best Defensive Forward winner last year.
A native of Luseland, Saskatchewan, Canada, Sibley finished the 2015-16 season tied for second on the team with 30 points, including 12 goals and 18 assists. The senior broke the Syracuse single-season record with six game-winning goals to rank fifth nationally in that category.
Sibley won 15 of her 25 faceoffs in Syracuse's first exhibition match against Montreal last weekend.
Dungey and the football team play Notre Dame at noon at MetLife Stadium this Saturday, Oct. 1. Tickets for the game are on sale now at nycollegeclassic.com and the Carrier Dome Box Office (888-DOMETIX).
Sibley and the ice hockey team host Bemidji State in a Friday-Saturday weekend series at Tennity Ice Skating Pavilion. The Orange take the ice at 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday. Admission to the games is free.
