Doug Pina to be Enshrined in Bristol Sports Hall of Fame

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Syracuse linebacker Doug Pina will be inducted into the Bristol (Conn.) Sports Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Friday, Nov. 18 from 6-10 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bristol.

An honorable mention All-American and all-state performer at Bristol Eastern High School, Pina was a three-year letterwinner (1983-85-86) for College Football Hall of Fame coach Dick MacPherson at Syracuse. Pina finished his career with 103 total tackles and three sacks, including a personal-best 55 tackles in 1985 to help the Orange to an appearance in the Cherry Bowl.

Pina went on to coach football at several different levels, including serving as the head coach at Bristol Central High School from 2004-10.
