
Orange head home to host trio for Syracuse Tournament

‘Cuse welcomes Hofstra, Siena and Penn State to central New York
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Following a weekend in the Midwest at the Nebraska Invite, the Syracuse volleyball team heads home to host the Syracuse Tournament on Friday, Sept. 9 and Saturday, Sept. 10 in the Women's Building. Admission to all six scheduled games this weekend is free of charge. A schedule for the tournament can be found below.
Saturday night's game between the Orange (0-4, 0-0 ACC) and Penn State (2-3, 0-0 Big Ten) will be broadcast live by ACC Network Extra/Watch ESPN here. Live stats will be available here for all games.
The trio of Penn State, Hofstra (5-2, 0-0 CAA) and Siena (1-5, 0-0 MAAC) will join 'Cuse in the Women's Building for the round robin tournament.
Syracuse will go head-to-head with Hofstra on Friday at 1 p.m. following the matchup between Siena and Penn State at 10 a.m.
The Orange lead the all-time series with the Pride, 9-7-1, as they look to secure their 10th series win and first victory of the 2016 season. The pair haven't met on the court since 1996, when the Orange came away with the win in three sets.
Hofstra heads to Syracuse after going 1-2 at the UNLV Challenge last weekend, as they fell to tournament host UNLV and California State University – Northridge.
The Orange will then meet the Saints of Siena on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in the first game of the day.
Syracuse holds a dominant lead over the Saints in the all-time series, sitting atop the fellow New York team, 21-2-0. 'Cuse won the last two meetings between the squads, and looks to continue the streak this weekend.
Siena is 1-5 on the season, with its only win against St. Francis (NY) at the Virginia Tech/Radford Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. The Saints begin this weekend's tournament with a five-game losing streak under their belt.
The Orange close out the Syracuse Tournament with a game against Penn State on Saturday night at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live by ACC Network Extra.
The Nittany Lions hold a 6-0-0 lead over the Orange in the all-time series, dating back to the first contest in 1982. The pair haven't met since 2013, when 'Cuse fell to then No. 2 PSU at the Penn State Invitational in straight sets.
Penn State holds a 2-3 record on the season, heading to Syracuse after a three-game losing streak to the ACC's North Carolina and the Pac-12's Colorado and Stanford.
