Four members of the Orange earned Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America honors, including Sergio Salcido earning a spot on the First Team.
Salcido, who finished 2016 as a USILA Second Team All-America selection, was joined on Inside Lacrosse's preseason teams by his fellow 2016 Second Team All-Americans Nick Mariano and Ben Williams, who were both tabbed to the second team by Inside Lacrosse. Nick Mellen rounds out the four 'Cuse on the publication's third team.
Full All-America Teams
Salcido finished second on the Orange in points with 53 during a breakout campaign as a redshirt junior last season. He scored 29 goals and chipped in 24 assists while starting every game in the Syracuse midfield.
Mariano led 'Cuse in goals in 2016, finding the back of the net 35 times, while also finishing third on the squad with 46 points last season in his first season with Syracuse.
Williams is re-writing Syracuse's faceoff record books, winning 62 percent of restarts at the X last season while also collecting 111 ground balls. He's on pace to shatter the Orange's career faceoff wins record this season despite having spent just two seasons at Syracuse previously.
Mellen is Syracuse's most experienced player on defense, despite being just a sophomore. He started 16 games last season during his standout rookie season, causing 14 turnovers and collecting 38 ground balls.
Â
'Cuse will begin its 2017 charge on Feb. 11 when the team hosts Siena at 4 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
