Orange, Tar Heels Clash on Big Monday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Syracuse goes on the road for its next two games, starting Monday, Jan. 16 at No. 11/12 North Carolina. The squads will tip off in Chapel Hill at 7 p.m.

FOR STARTERS
- Syracuse continued its success in the Carrier Dome with a 76-53 win against Boston College on Saturday. The win improved Syracuse's overall record to 11-7 (3-2 ACC), which includes an 11-2 mark at home.
- Freshman Tyus Battle extended his streak of double-figure scoring games to three with his performance against the Eagles. He was 7-for-13 from the field, including 3-for-6 from 3-point range, and 4-for-5 from the free throw line for a team-high 21 points. He also had two assists and three steals.
- The Orange lead the ACC in steals. Syracuse is averaging 8.4 per contest. The Orange recorded 11 steals against Boston College, which had 20 turnovers.
TARGETING THE TAR HEELS
- North Carolina extended its winning streak to four with a 96-83 victory against Florida State on Saturday. The win improved the Tar Heels' record to 16-3 overall and 4-1 in ACC action.
- North Carolina is the highest-scoring team in the ACC, averaging 89.6 points per game. Justin Jackson leads the way, contributing 17.9 points per game, while Joel Berry II is right behind, adding 16.2 points per game. Kennedy Meeks ranks fourth in the ACC in rebounding, pulling down 9.5 per game, and leads the league in offensive rebounds (3.9 per game).
- Roy Williams is in his 14th year at the helm of the North Carolina program. He guided the Tar Heels to the national championship in 2005 and 2009. Williams is a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
THE SERIES
North Carolina holds a 7-4 lead in the series with Syracuse. The Tar Heels have won three of the four meetings between the squads since the Orange joined the ACC.
