SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse returns to the Carrier Dome on Wednesday, Jan. 4 to host --/rv Miami at 7 p.m. The Orange are looking for their first ACC win of the season, while the Hurricanes defeated NC State in their league opener.

FOR STARTERS
- Syracuse will play three of its next four contests in the Carrier Dome. The Orange are 8-2 on its home court this season. Syracuse enters Wednesday's game with an 8-6 overall record.
- Freshman Taurean Thompson made his first career start in the ACC opener at Boston College. He responded with 14 points, three rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals in 28 minutes of action. Thompson is third on the team in scoring this season, averaging 9.4 points per game.
- Tyler Roberson recorded his second double-double of the season against the Eagles. He came off the bench and scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
HURRICANE CHASERS
- Miami defeated NC State, 81-63, in its ACC opener on Saturday. The win extended the Hurricanes' winning streak to seven games and improved their record to 11-2. Miami ranks second in the ACC in scoring defense, allowing 58.9 points per game.
- Three Hurricanes average double figures in scoring. Ja'Quan Newton leads the way, averaging 15.8 points per game. The trio also includes Davon Reed (14.6 ppg.) and Bruce Brown (11.0 ppg.). Kamari Murphy is Miami's leading rebounder, pulling down 7.9 per contest.
- Head coach Jim Larranaga is in his sixth season at the helm of the Miami program. He has guided the Hurricanes to a pair of NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and the 2013 ACC regular-season and tournament titles. Previously, Larranaga served as the head coach at George Mason, Bowling Green and American International.
THE SERIES
Syracuse leads the all-time series with Miami, 16-7. Since the Orange joined the ACC, the squads have split the four games between the two schools. Syracuse won both meetings in 2013-14, but the Hurricanes have won the last two meetings, including last year's 64-51 win in Coral Gables.
